Hello everyone and welcome to 2011! It’s great to be able to communicate with you all again through the vehicle of the Safety in the Market Monthly and Platinum newsletters.

With all the talk of the US Federal Reserve “printing money” and despite the well documented financial woes of the United States, it has been interesting to see the US Dollar holding its ground so far in 2011.

Some people liken the share market to a glorified casino.

I’d respectfully suggest they are either continually buying the wrong shares, continually selling at the wrong time, investing using borrowed money, or making any number of other basic investing mistakes.

Oil can be a complex one. There are numerous factors affecting the price of oil such as demand and supply which are the obvious factors but there is an added complication in that OPEC steps in from time to time to achieve a balance which may or may not have the right effect.
