Watching markets oscillate through varying degrees of confidence over the past week has been particularly interesting, as China’s economic performance began to tip the scales of bearishness, followed by today’s rather disappointing housing numbers. Yet, in the midst of what would have once been seen as ‘market turmoil’, markets continue to defy gravity.

What we are looking at this month is the classic cliché’, ‘Old Tops become, new bottoms’. I’ve said many times at Trading Tactics, ‘I want everyone to make money out of that saying, and when you do, remember me.’
Trading is all about probabilities, and because it is about probabilities, we as traders must of necessity be concerned with the management of risk. Therefore our job has to be to find high probability set-ups. Our great advantage is that we can pick and choose our trades. Many fund managers are compelled to be in the market all the time, but there are many times when it is better to be out.
