Volatile conditions remain as the PBOC reduced interest rates again overnight for the 5th time since November. Stock markets recovered across the globe last night with a great session in the domestic market yesterday. The recovery in the US was positive early but somewhat faded in the last 20 minutes of trade.

After another mauling last night, markets domestically are poised for more volatility. Commodities continued their sell offs as well as all major stock indexed globally. This recent correction has also awoken some volatility in the currency markets as well with the US dollar index down 1.6% overnight.

The Shanghai Composite fell 6% last night as broad market concerns weighed again on the economic well being going forward. The US markets were flat and pockets of commodities showed movement with WTI up slightly and silver taking a 3% haircut.

Commodities and Index markets surged last night on positive sentiment and better fundamental outlook for some commodities. The energy and metals space were strongly higher which is likely to follow through to our local market this morning.
